She’s been busy. But more important, she has been ceaselessly involved, creative in developing solutions and giving to the Snohomish community.
Anup Deol has been a resident of Snohomish for nearly thirty years. In 1999, she and a partner bought the optometry practice of John McClintock on Avenue D. She has been in optometry practice since. Her public presence in Snohomish has been professional but very quiet. She lists service with the Snohomish Lions’ Club and their charitable vision care assistance as service to the community. This involves referrals of patients to her clinic by the Lion’s Club. The Lions’ Club provides $300 payment for example and glasses. If costs exceed that, Dr. Deol may absorb them. The arrangement to provide volunteer eye care services through the Millionaires Club of Seattle is unknown.
She also lists vision care ‘missions’ to Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Ethiopia, India, Samoa, and Russia with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity). Volunteer missions overseas provide aid to those populations, but also personal travel and tax write off benefits to the provider. Significant volunteer time has been dedicated to areas of need on these missions, but away from our community.
Summary: Dr. Deol has focuses her volunteer efforts on areas where she has expertise, but also where there were tangible personal benefits.
